How it works
A hot meal that heats itself
Every meal comes with its own heating pack. Add room-temperature water and the pack gets hot by itself, steaming the meal sitting above it. No flame and no fuel.
Step by step
1
Heating pack in
Open the heating pack’s outer packaging and place the pack in the outer container (container A).
2
Meal in the bowl
Put the noodles and meat in the inner bowl (container B). For Korean Beef Curry, add the curry paste too.
3
Water on the pack
Pour 150 mL of room-temperature water into the outer container, onto the heating pack.
4
Water in the bowl
Sit the bowl in the outer container, then add room-temperature water to the bowl (see the table below).
5
Close and wait
Close the lid. Don’t touch the outer container while it heats. At 5 minutes, open the lid, stir, and close it again.
6
Season and eat
When the time is up, add the seasoning (and chilli for Bone Marrow, if you like it hotter), stir well and enjoy.
Water and timing for each meal
| Meal | Outer container (heating pack) | Inner bowl | Heating time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bone Marrow Rice Noodle | 150 mL | 350 mL | About 10 minutes |
| Korean Beef Curry Noodle | 150 mL | Curry paste + 100 mL | About 12 minutes |
Always use room-temperature water. The amounts are the same for the Self Cooking Box, Refills and the Disposable Box.
Safety tips
- Use it on a flat, stable surface in a well-ventilated area, not inside a closed tent or vehicle.
- The outer container gets hot and steam comes out while it heats. Don’t touch the outer container, and open the lid away from your face and hands.
- Keep the heating pack away from children and pets. Never open or eat the heating pack.
- Use only room-temperature water, in the amounts shown on the pack.
- Let the used heating pack cool completely before throwing it away.
- Always follow the instructions and warnings printed on the pack.
Common questions
How do Refills work?
Each Refill box has three meals, and each meal has its own heating pack. Reuse the containers from your Self Cooking Box and follow the same steps.
What water should I use?
Room-temperature water, as shown on the pack. Use clean drinking water in the inner bowl, because that’s the water you’ll be eating.
How should I store them?
Keep them in a dry place at room temperature. Check the best-before date printed on the pack.
What do I do with the used heating pack?
Let it cool completely, then put it in the general rubbish. Take your rubbish home with you when you’re camping.
